Where do I start? Color is my passion, all 1,058 colors choices... yes, it even includes white... there are 54 whites! White is beautiful when used as your color of choice. Leaving white walls because you don't know what else to do is lame.

Don't be afraid of color. It can be soft and subtle, warm and inviting, dramatic and exciting. Your color choice should be a beautiful backdrop for you... not what is current in the market trend or what your neighbor has in their home.

Elements that are part of color choice considerations:

  • You - what colors are you always drawn to?

  • Your home's architectural style

  • Your home's natural and artificial lighting

  • What are the permanent color features in your home?

  • Who lives in your home?

  • How do you "Live in your home"?

  • Do you entertain? How often, how many guests?

  • Do you have specific needs to be considered?

  • Will these colors go with EVERYTHING?

  • Spouses/partners do not agree on colors?

It's not that easy is it? Bet you didn't think of all of these issues when you are standing at the paint counter at Home Depot or Lowes! It takes a trained person to get these colors right for you, your family, and your home. A good color choice takes all of these elements into consideration.

Adjoining areas are part of the big picture. A proper harmony needs to be complete as you walk through your home. Color should never be an assault to the senses. It should draw you in and surround you like a good quilt.

Need help? A color selection consultation could be the answer. Both partners need to be at the consultation as both inputs are equally important, and the children can have input, but should not have the last word on their rooms.
